Wine Cocktails From Around the World: Italy’s Aperol Spritz

Overview

If you haven’t had an Aperol Spritz, you’re missing out! One of our wine experts tried their first Spritz minutes after arriving in Venice. Maybe it was the sights and sounds of the Grand Canal or the jet lag, but the instant she saw the orange tinted drink at almost every table of the outdoor cafe, she deviated from her normal routine and ordered “what they’re having”.

To this day, she has never looked back. The Aperol Spritz has become a spring/summer go-to not only for her, but for her friends and family as well. It’s the kind of drink that instantly relaxes and refreshes. Try out the recipe this weekend!

Ingredients

  • Ice
  • Prosecco
  • Orange – Sliced (not in a wedge, round slices)
  • Aperol
  • Soda Water

Recipe

An Aperol Spritz is incredibly easy to make (it will probably take you longer to cut the orange than to make the drink). Gather all of your ingredients and a clean wine glass. This recipe is known as the 3-2-1 recipe for its easy to remember order of ingredients. It’s also the best way to prevent the Aperol from settling at the bottom of the glass.

  1. Add ice cubes and the orange slice to a clean wine glass.
  2. Top with 3 shots of Prosecco.
  3. Add 2 shots of Aperol.
  4. Add 1 shot of soda water.
  5. Enjoy!

We hope you enjoy the Aperol Spritz. And don’t worry, it’s completely normal to close your eyes and imagine you’re in Venice while you sip this delicious cocktail. Get started today by ordering your Prosecco from our online wine store!
