Styles of Champagne<\/em><\/h3>\n

Since the wines<\/a> of Champagne may be produced from one type of grape or more, there are a range of styles from which to choose. Here are some common examples:<\/span><\/p>\n

Non-Vintage (House Blend)<\/strong> – entry-level bottling produced from a combination of Chardonnay and\/or Pinot Noir and\/or Pinot Meunier<\/span><\/p>\n

Vintage (Luxury Blend)<\/strong> – produced from a single harvest, and only in the best years from Chardonnay and\/or Pinot Noir and\/or Pinot Meunier<\/span><\/p>\n

Blanc de Blancs<\/strong> – \u201cwhite of whites,\u201d produced from 100% Chardonnay<\/span><\/p>\n

Blanc de Noirs<\/strong> – \u201cwhite of blacks,\u201d white wine produced from Pinot Noir and\/or Pinot Meunier <\/span><\/p>\n

Ros\u00e9<\/strong> – often a blend of white and red wine, though it can also be made solely from black grapes<\/span><\/p>\n

Levels of Sweetness<\/em><\/h3>\n

Although Champagne was originally a sweet wine<\/a>, today the dry styles are more fashionable to drink. The amount of sugar added during disgorgement determines how sweet a Champagne will taste. The labels of Champagne bottles will always indicate a sweetness level, which can be found bellow, along with their explanation:<\/span><\/p>\n

Brut Nature<\/strong> – bone dry<\/span><\/p>\n

Extra Brut<\/strong> – dry<\/span><\/p>\n

Brut<\/strong> – dry to off-dry<\/span><\/p>\n

Extra Sec<\/strong> – off-dry to medium-dry<\/span><\/p>\n

Sec<\/strong> – medium-dry<\/span><\/p>\n

Demi-sec<\/strong> – medium sweet<\/span><\/p>\n

Doux<\/strong> – lusciously sweet<\/span><\/p>\n
