Domaine Roger et Didier Raimbault Sancerre &#8216;Les Belles C\u00f4tes&#8217; 2025, 375ml<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We start the day in the Loire. The Raimbault family has grown vines in Sancerre for nearly 400 years. Their domaine sits in Verdigny, one of the most respected villages in the appellation, with about 43 acres on the steep slopes of Verdigny and Sury-en-Vaux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les Belles C\u00f4tes is 100% Sauvignon Blanc from two classic Sancerre soils: half terres blanches (white clay-limestone) and half caillottes (pebbly limestone). The grapes are picked at night, pressed right away, fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the glass:<\/strong> grapefruit, lemon zest, white peach, green apple and fresh herbs, with a flinty edge. Crisp, focused and bright. <strong>Pour it with:<\/strong> oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, fresh goat cheese or roast chicken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Pine Ridge Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, 375ml<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>92 Points, James Suckling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, Napa. Pine Ridge was founded in 1978 in the Stags Leap District and now farms 160 acres of estate vineyards, 47 of them in its home appellation. This Cabernet blends estate fruit from Stags Leap, Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford and Carneros, picked by hand at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the glass:<\/strong> blueberry, blackcurrant, violet and raspberry, with a finish of licorice, blackberry and dark chocolate. James Suckling rated it 92 points and recommends drinking it now or holding it. Jeb Dunnuck gave it 91 points. <strong>Pour it with:<\/strong> pork loin with a cherry chipotle sauce (the winery&#8217;s pick).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. 94 Pt. Champagne Palmer Ros\u00e9 Solera NV, 375ml<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>94 points, Jeb Dunnuck<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, bubbles. Champagne Palmer was founded in Reims by seven grower families and farms more than 500 acres of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. Its wines rest in chalk cellars deep beneath the streets of Reims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What makes this ros\u00e9 special is its solera: a perpetual reserve of Pinot Noir started 40 years ago and kept in stainless steel tanks. A touch of it gives this ros\u00e9 its depth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the glass:<\/strong> wild strawberry, red and black currant, vanilla and spice, with fine structure. Jeb Dunnuck&#8217;s reviewer gave it 94 points and suggests drinking it through 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. 94 Pt. Ch\u00e2teau Laroque Saint-\u00c9milion Grand Cru Class\u00e9 2015, 375ml<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>94 Points, James Suckling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We close the day in Bordeaux. Ch\u00e2teau Laroque has farmed its limestone plateau in Saint-\u00c9milion since the 12th century. Its 151 acres of old vines make it one of the largest estates in the appellation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2015 is 89% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, from vines over 50 years old. It was harvested by hand, plot by plot, and made in small concrete vats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In the glass:<\/strong> dark plum, berry, mocha and dark chocolate, with plush, long tannins. James Suckling rated it 94 points.
