Best known for her award-winning podcast, Wine for Normal People, Elizabeth turns the often overwhelming world of wine into an easily understood (and amusing!) experience. Elizabeth's podcast is “for people who like wine, but not the snobbery that goes with it”. Wine for Normal People has been recognized as one of Imbibe Magazine's "10 Great Podcasts For Imbibers" and iTunes "Best New Arts Podcast 2011"; as well as receiving the 2017 Taste Award for "Best Podcast". After working in high tech, getting her MBA (UNC-Chapel Hill), and working in marketing for a huge winery in California, Elizabeth abandoned the corporate world to follow her passion of helping normal people who like wine learn more about it through her podcast, live and online seminars, and her upcoming book, Wine For Normal People. With over 12 years of wine experience, the title of Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers and Certified Specialist of Wine, Elizabeth has the knowledge and passion to help you uncover your palate!
Laura Maniec, owner and CEO of Corkbuzz Wine Studio, has spent her entire career in wine. Laura is one of only 32 women in the world to pass her Master Sommelier Exam (at the age of 29!!). Since opening Corkbuzz, The Wall Street Journal has dubbed Laura the "It Girl" of the New York wine scene, Crain’s New York Business honored her as one of their “40 Under 40,” Food & Wine magazine named her one of 2013’s “Sommeliers of the Year” and Wine Enthusiast included her in their list of "Top 40 Tastemakers Under 40." Laura’s goal of making wine approachable and fun, while keeping the spirit of always learning and exploring, makes her the perfect guide for your wine experience.
Master of Wine
Jennifer Simonetti-Bryan started her career in finance, but after one fateful business lunch, she decided to take the plunge into the world of wine. Jennifer now holds the top wine title in the world as a Master of Wine - the fourth woman of only 47 people in the US to achieve such a highly coveted international title. She has been honored with an international tasting trophy for her palate and awarded five other Wine & Spirit certifications. Additionally, Simonetti-Bryan has trained thousands of professionals in the industry, judged international wine and spirits competitions, has been featured in world-class publications, and is a frequent guest on national television programs such as NBC’s Today Show, Fox News, and many more.
She is also the author of The One Minute Wine Master: Discover 10 Wines You’ll Like in 60 Seconds or Less and Rosé Wine: The Guide to Drinking Pink, co-author of Pairing with the Masters: A Definitive Guide to Food & Wine with Certified Master Chef Ken Arnone, and author and host of a number of classes on The Great Courses.
Before joining WTSO’s Research team as a Wine Researcher/Educator, Dolores received a graduate degree in Cultural Anthropology and worked as a museum educator. She holds degrees in both Culinary and Pastry Arts and has worked under a two-time James Beard-nominated bread baker and a winner of Top Chef. While she loves working in kitchens, her passion lies in the classroom. As a Food and Wine Educator, she has collaborated with the Free Library of Philadelphia's Culinary Literacy Center to develop recipes and teach classes with topics such as food and wine pairing, among others. Her background is incredibly useful when understanding flavors and wine pairings. She is a WSET Diploma student and a Certified Wine Educator for the WSET, as well as a Certified Specialist of Wine through the Society of Wine Educators.
