Uncovering NYC’s BYOB Restaurants

We’re starting a new series on our favorite BYOB restaurants in cities around the US. BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) restaurants are the perfect way to enjoy your own wine without having to prep the meal (or clean up!). Each list will include some of our favorite BYOB restaurants in each city. They aren’t meant to be a comprehensive list but if you you see a restaurant missing that you think should absolutely be on the list, please send it over via our Facebook page. We’d be happy to consider your favorites, too!

To kick-off the series, we’re covering a selection of BYOB spots from the Big Apple. Whether you live in New York City or are just visiting, these restaurants are a great place to stop in for a bite and enjoy a wine of your choice!

Le Village French Petite Bistro

  • Address: 127 East 7th Street
  • No Corkage Fee
  • A small neighborhood French bistro. Don’t miss the classic French onion soup, the coq au vin, or the sautéed brussel sprouts.
  • Bonus: Vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores can all enjoy a wonderful meal at Le Village; which clearly identifies Vegan and Gluten Free dishes on the menu.
  • Bring along a great Bordeaux.

Piccola Strada

  • Address: 77 East 4th Street
  • $5 corkage fee per bottle
  • The tiny restaurant serves up classic Italian dishes in an atmosphere that feels more like your grandmother’s house. Come for their classic red sauce and osso buco.
  • Bring along a Chianti Classico or a Barolo.

Wondee Siam

  • Address: 792 Ninth Avenue
  • A hole in the wall serving deliciously spicy Thai food. You can find all the staples, basil fried rice, an assortment of Thai curries, etc. If you’re in for an adventure and like spice, ask for the “Thai menu”.
  • Bring along an oaked Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, or a Pinot Noir.

Lucali

  • Address: 575 Henry Street – Brooklyn
  • If you find yourself in Brooklyn, go to Lucali. A neighborhood pizza place producing delicious thin crust pies with homemade sauce and fresh ingredients. Lucali isn’t your weeknight take-out, they don’t offer delivery or slices. What Mark Iacono does with a pie is magical and worth the trip.
  • Bring along a Barbera, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, or a Chianti Classico.

Sarabeth’s

  • Various locations
  • Corkage fees apply
  • Come for Brunch. Sarabeth’s is known for their delicious brunch menu filled with classics like french toast, outstanding omelettes, and heavenly pastries.
