RECIPE: Herb Roasted Turkey

As Thanksgiving approaches, now is the best time to perfect your turkey-making skills. This Herb Roasted Turkey recipe is delicious, serves as a great main course for holiday meals, and pairs perfectly with a glass of wine.


  • 12 lb whole turkey
  • 3/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp ground sage
  • 2 cups water
  • Salt and pepper


Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Clean turkey and place in a roasting pan with lid. Combine olive oil, garlic powder, dried basil, ground sage, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Use a basting bursh to apply the mixture to the outside of the uncooked turkey. Pour water into the bottom of the roasting pan and cover.

Bake for 3 1/2 hours. Remove turkey from oven let rest approximately 30 minutes before carving.
