Want to make a simple dish for date night this weekend? Check out this classic recipe for Herbed Meatballs & Spaghetti, which you can make 4 servings of (can someone say “perfect leftovers?”) in just 45 minutes.
And better yet, reward yourself for making it by pairing your dinner with wine. Pour a rich glass of Italian wine to complement one of the country’s staple dishes. Find the perfect wines for this meal in the Piedmont vs. Tuscany pack, which gets featured periodically on the Weekly Tasting tab. Or, shop a Build Your Own Pack Sale in the future to get access to single bottles from previous packs.
Time to start cooking. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1lb ground beef
- 20 saltine crackers, crushed
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 4 tbsp dried Italian herbs
- 1/4 cup mozzarella
- 1/4 cup parmesan
- Olive oil
- Fresh basil
Add all sauce components into a pot and simmer for 20 minutes. Then blend until smooth.
Mix all meatball components and shape into golf balls. Bake at 375 degress for 30 minutes or until cooked.
Add to sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Boil pasta in salted water and drain. Finish pasta in sauce and meatballs, plate and drizzle with olive oil and fresh basil.
And now, you’re all set to create this classic meal any night of the week and pair it with a must-have wine! Try it with the Weekly Tasting pack we listed, or find other Italian wines to pair with meals at any time on WTSO.com. Enjoy!
