RECIPE: Herbed Meatballs & Spaghetti

Want to make a simple dish for date night this weekend? Check out this classic recipe for Herbed Meatballs & Spaghetti, which you can make 4 servings of (can someone say “perfect leftovers?”) in just 45 minutes.

And better yet, reward yourself for making it by pairing your dinner with wine. Pour a rich glass of Italian wine to complement one of the country’s staple dishes. Find the perfect wines for this meal in the Piedmont vs. Tuscany pack, which gets featured periodically on the Weekly Tasting tab.

Time to start cooking. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 2 lbs plum tomatoes
  • 2 onions, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 5 tbsp dried basil
  • 2 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper

  • 1lb ground beef
  • 20 saltine crackers, crushed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 4 tbsp dried Italian herbs
  • 1/4 cup mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup parmesan
  • Olive oil
  • Fresh basil

  1. Add all sauce components into a pot and simmer for 20 minutes. Then blend until smooth.
  2. Mix all meatball components in a large bowl and shape into golf balls. Bake at 375 degress F for 20 minutes or until cooked.
  3. Boil pasta in salted water until al dente according to directions and drain.
  4. Add meatballs to sauce and simmer for 10 minutes. Finish pasta in sauce and meatballs, then plate with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh basil.

And now, you’re all set to create this classic meal any night of the week and pair it with a must-have wine! Try it with the Weekly Tasting pack we listed, or find other Italian wines to pair with meals at any time on Enjoy!

  • Is there a separate list of ingredients for the sauce? I only see the ingredients for the meatballs. Would love to try it!

    • Thank you for noticing that, Tom. We really appreciate your feedback. Our team has updated the recipe to include the missing ingredients. Bon appetit!
