RECIPE: Spiced Duck Breast With Citrus-Honey Drizzle

Serving dinner for a few guests tonight? Cook to impress in just 25 minutes with this Spiced Duck Breast Recipe for 4! The spice, citrus, & honey will all pair perfectly with a flavorful glass of wine, especially one of the three U.S. red blends in this week’s tasting set — The American Way” Go Big – Red Blends.

Now without further ado, it’s time to start cooking & sipping.

4 duck breasts

Spice Blend:

  • 2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

Citrus Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Zest 1 orange
  • Juice 1 orange
  • Juice 1 lemon

  1. Score the duck breasts by slicing a few slits through the skin but not through the fat. Season meat side with salt and spice blend. Season the fat side with salt.
  2. Cook the duck breasts by starting them in a cold pan, fat side down. Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes without flipping. Flip and cook spiced side for 4 minutes. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.
  3. In a small saucepan, add zest, juice, and honey. Simmer the mixture until reduced and syrupy.
  4. Slice the duck breasts and drizzle with citrus honey sauce.

Who knew such a classy dinner could be so easy to make? Whip this creation up next time you have guests over, and don’t forget to pair the dish with its perfect match — a red blend from this week’s tasting. Cheers!
