Coming from a single vineyard planted in 1885 in pure sand soils, the 2017 Nisia Las Suertes (100% Verdejo) was barrel fermented and spent ten months on lees. It offers a rocking bouquet of pineapple, tangerines, and spice that develops beautifully with time in the glass. Rich, medium-bodied, with beautiful depth of fruit and bright acidity, it's a seriously good white to drink over the coming 4-5 years, if not longer.

Limpid straw-yellow. Intensely perfumed, mineral- and lees-accented citrus and orchard fruit aromas show excellent clarity and complicating hints of pungent flowers and herbs. Densely packed and energetic on the palate, offering juicy nectarine and pear skin flavors that show excellent tension thanks to a core of juicy acidity. The mineral quality carries strongly through the finish, which leaves behind sappy Meyer lemon and honeysuckle notes.

This white has density and energy. The thick texture is balanced by firm acidity and a touch of tannins. Pineapple, guava, and tangerine flavors mingle with herbal and chalky notes. Bold yet balanced. Drink now through 2023. -TM

Baked-pear pastry and apple-pie notes with gentle spices, too. The palate has a fresh-lemon thread, neat texture and a sleeve of fresh, crunchy fruit. Drink now.
