Castelgreve 2020 Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva
Tasting Notes
This wine, mostly Sangiovese, greets the eye with a very intense ruby-red color. It opens with a complex and elegant bouquet, with nuance of mature fruits and vanilla. Soft on the palate, well balanced with a persistent aftertaste.

This red starts out fleshy and round, then the vivid acidity cuts through, focusing the flavors of cherry, strawberry and rose hip. Sweet spice and black pepper notes add detail as this cruises to the long finish. Sangiovese and Merlot. Best from 2026 through 2037.

Fresh cherries and orange zest on the nose are contrasted with the metallic, earthy tones of fresh dirt and wild herbs. The palate adds more berries with a bit of chocolate, marked by chalky tannins.

Floral top notes and tannins so vigorous and chewy and drenched in morello-cherry juice that they’ve got a hold of you and are pulling you in before you’ve realised what’s happening. Sour sapidity, cinnamon and nutmeg spices. Lively and energetic but no length or depth. (TC)
