Reserve Brut
Terroir
This venerable generational Cotes des Bars-based family has been growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier since 1847 and has practiced sustainable viticulture for several decades. Their chalky limestone and marl vineyards extend throughout the six communes of the Cote des Bars in the beautiful Aube Valley. Some parcels in this excellent reserve blend are already over 50 years old and would qualify as 'old vines.' The majority comes from an ideally exposed single vineyard of Pinot Noir called la Grande Cote, facing fully to the south.
Tasting Notes
The effervescence is fine and persistent. The color is pale yellow with a beautiful brightness. The fruit-driven aromatics show hints of mango, chamomile, candied citrus fruits, apricots, and buttered nuts with a touch of toast. These notes are beautifully echoed on the well-rounded, medium-bodied, nutty, biscuity, and fresh, savory palate. The palate evolves with gingerbread, butter, and mandarin flavors that are carried by a lovely freshness. The finish has a pleasant evolution and persistence. The length is intense and surprisingly complex, showing gingerbread and raspberry.
Enjoyment
This is a full-bodied and gently textured champagne that is ideal as a refreshing aperitif or for a special celebration. Food pairings such as grilled lobster, scallops, crab, and sushi work well with this reserve blend. Also, try with full-bodied cheeses and roast chicken.

[...] 60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay.
Fresh, mouth-watering, sweet rose-grapefruit intensity of fruit and ripe acidity. Brisk and crisp and crystal-cut but with real depth of bright fruit and balance. This is very, very good. (TC)
