The hue is bright, although not deep - indeed crystal clear; the scented, perfumed red berry bouquet leads into a juicy palate with no green notes, just a touch of mint; it is long and evenly balanced, and will provide much pleasure over the next five or so years, thereafter is in the lap of the gods.

MOUNT MARY YARRA VALLEY QUINTET 2011
Country: Australia

Score: 90
Lighter more playful fruits here; quite supple redder shades of fruit aromas and flavors. The tannins are fine and layered and the palate has a smooth climb through from front to back. Elegant wine. -NS Publish Date: Thursday, January 8, 2015

Winemaker Notes
The Quintet varieties have performed extremely well, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon. A week or so of good weather around Easter rounded off the Cabernets beautifully, resulting in perfect ripeness at less than usual sugar/alcohol levels. This is exactly what we aim for. The wine shows classic Quintet aromas and flavours of dark fruits, black olive, liquorice, and spice. There is a beautifully layered palate of sweet fruits built around a savoury backbone of tannin and oak derived characters. The acidity, as is the case with many Quintets, provides freshness and a clean finish to the palate. It has persistence and a noticeable elegance already that will only build with time. -Mount Mary
Tasting Notes
Tightly coiled, this wine took a while to open up in the glass. Once it opened, the expressive layers started to unravel, and it had excellent perfume. The elegance was balanced with a lovely minerality, and gravelly/dusty tannins all woven in with layers of fruit. This is an excellent wine which promises so much but already over delivers. - Richard Doumani, MW Wines
