Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale, 10 km north-east into the hilltops surrounding the township of McLaren Vale, South Australia. Sitting at 290 metres higher above sea level, slightly cooler microclimates offer longer, milder, and very consistent ripening conditions.

Winemaking Notes
Low yielding, dry grown vines planted in 1920 are hand-picked thereby culturing whole berry, wild yeast fermentation. This increases the retention of the grapes' varietal essence and minimizes tannin extract. All pressings are returned to the barrel and bottled on-site without fining or filtration.

Maturation
Barrels are hand-selected by the winemaking team. The wine is aged for 18 months in a blend of 1-to 5-year-old tightly grained French oak.

There is another level of concentration in this wine, delving in to the very syrup of plum, raspberry and prune with a little dried herb complexity thrown in for good measure; the palate is dense and brooding, massively proportioned and thickly textured; long and luscious and full of chewy tannins to conclude.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Romas Vineyard Grenache is redolent with aromas of ripe red plums, warm cranberries and red currants fused with Chinese five spice and preserved mandarin peel notes. Full-bodied and endowed with a good core of muscular fruit, it is supported with firm, grainy tannins and crisp acid. It finishes long with just a little alcohol warmth. Drink this one 2014 to 2022+.
