This red delivers cherry, strawberry, rose and mineral flavors, aligned with a firm, well-integrated matrix of acidity and tannins. A tad pinched in the end, but all the elements are there. Best from 2021 through 2035. -BS

The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Poggiotondo is round and soft with a nice array of ripe cherry and blackberry. The mouthfeel is thin and streamlined with fine polish on the close. The wine shows medium persistence, but it does offer lots of bright fruit along the way.

Mid ruby with orange tinges. A little stalky and with hints of cherry, red and black currant. Red-fruit cocktail with a dash of blackcurrant on the palate. Fresh and very light. (WS)
