Vintage Notes
The 2016 vintage started cool, which naturally limited yields to less than 1.25 tons per acre at our target of 1-2 clusters per shoot. Cluster and berries were half of normal in size. The ensuing summer was warm and ideal with minimal pressure. Grapes were picked for freshness, flavor & maturity and were then meticulously sorted in the field and pre- and post-sorting tables at the winery. Extended cold soak, primarily native fermentation, pump-overs, and gentle punch-downs. The wine was racked at 16 months off the lees, then blended. There were multiple lots of 100% whole cluster added in the final blend.
Tasting Notes
Ruby-red, opens with pretty, ripe cherries and plum that meld seamlessly with underlying wild herbs, dried flowers, spice, and tea notes. On the palate, layers of sweet dark cherries dance across the tongue, while the seamlessly integrated acidity balances nicely with the expansive, bright texture. Medium finish, with fine and noble, silky tannins. Full-bodied and deliciously seductive now, but one would be wise to bet on its future when the roundness gives way to increased nuances. We suggest aging for a least a year to let the wine settle and develop in the bottle. Drink in 2-12 years.

A fresh tasting mix of peppery, brambly berry fruit, with a sprinkling of oregano, this well-balanced wine may be enjoyed immediately, but should continue to improve over the next half-decade. The tannins are proportionate and add a drying hint of tea and tobacco to the finish.

Pale to medium ruby in color, the 2016 Pinot Noir Lachini Family Estate has a nose of fresh black berries, black and red cherries and baked cranberry with Earl Grey tea and spice plus turned soil and bitter root/tree bark nuances. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with black fruit and spicy accents, framed with grainy tannins and just enough juicy acidity, finishing earthy.
