District Collection Yountville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Vintage Details
2018 was a near picture-perfect growing season that began in late February, followed by a mild spring yielding uniform grape clusters. Temperatures remained moderate to cool throughout the season, with 2018 being considered one of the coolest vintages of the past decade. The cooler temperatures allowed for a longer hang time, resulting in an even and temperate harvest.
Winemaking Notes
The grapes were fermented on the skins for 54 days with extended maceration. After fermentation, the wine was gently pressed, racked, and aged for 18 months in Ermitage and Taransaud French oak barrels, 38% new. Tightly grained, French oak barrels from forests in the center of France impart their oak on wines slowly for a consistent, well-rounded aging process while yielding subtle oak influences to the Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes
Our 2018 Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon opens with floral notes of spring flowers, herbs, and dark cherry aromas. Concentrated flavors of strawberry, raspberry, and rhubarb are met with a touch of chocolate and baking spice. With fine-grained tannins, the finish is seamless.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon District Collection Yountville comes from a single vineyard off State Lane and was brought up in 38% new French oak. Pretty, floral notes of sappy herbs, spring flowers, iron, chocolate, and more red fruits define the bouquet, and it's beautifully concentrated and seamless on the palate. It's another winner.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon coming from the State Lane area, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Yountville District Collection was aged in French oak, 38% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it reveals fragrant notes of Morello cherries, black raspberries, cassis and tilled soil with nuances of bay leaves, cast-iron pan and cloves. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of juicy black and red berries, framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and lifted.

A nice, sleek, focused version, with a pure beam of cassis and cherry reduction flavors, flanked by sweet toast, anise and a flash of singed bay leaf. Subtle tugs of mineral and earth through the finish augment the fruit nicely. Drink now through 2030. - JM

This is a tannic, thick and deeply concentrated wine, robust in dried herb, jammy black cherry and cocoa powder. It packs a memorable punch, the savory earthiness providing contrast with subdued complexity.
