Unctuosity of woody red fruit. Chateau Canon Montsegur Oscar 2018 is a wine combining balance, richness, and elegance due to the aromatic finesse of the Cabernet present in the vineyard.

Tasting Notes
A rich purple color. An elegant nose, combining at once the smoothness of red fruit of the woods (wild strawberries and raspberries), notes of fine oak, and well-incorporated and silky tannins. A homogeneous and structured mouth with a nice hint of spice aromas on the finish.

Lots of black cherry, blueberry, roasted herbs, licorice, and graphite notes emerge from the 2018 Chateau Canon Montsegur Oscar, which is medium-bodied and has a beautifully balanced, elegant texture, moderate tannins, and a great finish. Based on 47% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, it's a terrific wine from this estate that shines for its elegance and purity while still delivering plenty of fruit and texture.

The 2018 Oscar is a fresh, fruity Cotes de Castillon to drink now and over the next handful of years. Bright red berry fruit, mint, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco are nicely lifted. There is a streak of underlying herbaceousness, most likely from the Franc, that readers have to accept in order to enjoy the 2018. I like this more than the 100% Franc Lancelot bottling.
