Inside I Balzini Wines

Located in the heart of Tuscany between Florence and Siena, I Balzini has been producing distinctive Super Tuscan wines since the D’Isanto family acquired the estate in 1980. The name “I Balzini” comes from the local word balze, referring to the natural terraces that shape the vineyard landscape. Today, the estate remains dedicated to expressing the unique character of its hillside vineyards through meticulous farming, low yields, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

The vineyards sit approximately 250 meters above sea level on ancient marine soils rich in clay, sand, and fossil deposits. Significant day-to-night temperature swings help preserve freshness and aromatics, while hand-harvesting and sustainable vineyard practices ensure every grape reaches optimal ripeness. The estate’s philosophy centers on allowing each vineyard parcel to express itself, with separate vinifications and careful aging designed to preserve the character of the fruit and terroir.
