Solidly built, with a core of steeped fig and blackberry fruit framed by smoldering tobacco, dark olive, and tar notes. Lots of cast iron and bramble details show on the finish, which has buried acidity to allow all the pieces to meld nicely in the cellar. Best from 2022 through 2038. -JM

Concentrated but energetic as well, offering sweet dark berry, spicecake, floral pastille and olive paste flavors that show very good definition and spicy cut. Lovely violet scent and loads of bright black fruit on the palate. Firm and dry on the palate, finishing with excellent black pepper spices on the length. Really generous flavours here, with structured but accessible tannin and relatively light body. (RH)
