Underbrush, blue flower, wild berry and new leather aromas form the nose along with a whiff of citrus zest. Full bodied and enveloping, the palate boasts an earthy elegance, featuring succulent Marasca cherry, crushed botanical herb, white pepper and a hint of salted game alongside fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2027.

The 2017 Barbaresco is an attractive wine for current drinking. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit and cedar give this mid-weight, ethereal Barbaresco lovely aromatic complexity and nuance.

Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Generous, perfumed cherry fruit nose with a hint of marzipan (from oak). Plenty of ripe fruit on the palate supported by chewy tannins. Not super-complex, but well made and delicious. (WS)
