La Morra is a village in Piedmont known for a high concentration of limestone-clay soil that typically yields more aromatic and fruitier styles of Barolo. Negretti's 2018 single-vineyard 'Rive' bottling displays a complex nose of wild cherry, strawberry, rose petal, sage, and orange zest with an elegant palate of textured tannins cut by rich acidity. This fruity yet earthy wine will shine alongside hearty dishes such as braised short ribs or oxtail stew, so stock up today at a price you won't find anywhere else!

Ruby color on a soft red basis. It's characterized by notes of petals and wild strawberries. In the mouth, it's persistent and silky, with well-domesticated tannins and a rich, slightly acidic - but fragrant - extraction. Its alcohol amplifies, without mistake, remarkable notes of flower and dry herbs.

The Negretti 2018 Barolo Rive [...] offers smooth concentration and the slightly softer vinous disposition that one might associate with wines from La Morra. This is a balanced and fresh Nebbiolo with a more accessible personality that suits it very nicely, especially if paired with one of the rich meat sauces and pasta dishes that are typical of Piedmont's regional cuisine. Grapes are harvested from a south-facing position, and the vines are 45 years old. Some of that freshness and brightness is locked in during a brief phase of cryomaceration [...]. This is a terrific find.

Red-cherry and walnut-shell character to this rather racy Barolo, at least until it hits the barrier of firm tannin towards the end. Medium-bodied and delicately poised at the moment. Needs a little bottle time to gain some depth and complexity. Try from 2023.
