Tasting Notes
Cherrier Pere et Fils' 'Les 7 Hommes' 2020 is bright, fresh, and lively. Aromas of fresh lemon, a touch of grapefruit, white melon, and passion fruit fill the senses. The dry, medium-full body is filled with nuances that are the mark of a master winemaker. It takes little effort to take one sip and only grows easier from there.
Vintage
The 2020 season in the Loire Valley had two very distinct periods, a cool, rainy winter followed by a dry summer. This allowed vines to truly flourish without any consequence, leading to a bountiful harvest with a full expression of the terroir.
Terroir
These vines sit on 13 hectares of the family's holding, on average 70 years of age. They are spread throughout Sancerre and take advantage of the three types of soils. Terre Blanche, which makes up 40% of the 13 hectares and is found in the higher hillsides, brings strength to the wine. Caillottes, which contributes 20%, is a compact chalk-limestone soil found on lower slopes and provides magnificent fruitiness. And the Silex, a flint-rich clay-silica soil along a north-south fault line that runs right through the town of Sancerre, 40% of the vineyard, provides a stunning minerality.
Estate
Cherrier Pere et Fils was founded in 1930 and has been worked by four generations of this family. Today, the family-owned estate spreads across 18 hectares throughout Sancerre. 'Les 7 Hommes' is a local expression in Sancerre, which translates to 'The Seven Men' and represents the size of a parcel of land that required seven men a day to plow it.

A bright, juicy, spot-on Sancerre that drinks effortlessly.
