Through careful selection from the best winegrowers of the appellation, this cuvee is a testament to excellence. Not just papal land, Chateauneuf is also royal land for Grenache which it expresses here with all its might, releasing fruitiness and complexity to the fullest.

Terroir: Red clay and sand, with famous rolling pebbles
Varietals: 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Counoise

Vinification and Maturing
Traditional winemaking method with pumping over and treading (punching down). Maceration for 25 days with controlled temperature (28 degrees C / 82 degrees F maximum). Malolactic fermentation. Maturing for 18 months, a part in barrels and the rest in vats.

Tasting Notes
Bright, deep, dark garnet. Aromatic nose with plenty of notes of ripe fruit (blackcurrant, raspberries) and thyme. Concentrated and robust palate with spicy aromas developing into mocha.

The 2019 'Les Jardin des Papes' from Francois-Xavier Nicolas delivers gorgeous aromas of blackberries and plum along with white pepper, crushed stones, forest floor and wild herbs, which all emerge from the glass. This shows a lovely refined structure, backed by firm, yet silky tannins and a caressing finish that shows excellent length. Overall this is a fantastic showing, however it will likely require additional bottle age before it hits its stride.
