Vines over 35 years old in southeast Spain's Yecla D.O. inform the 2016 "Old Vines Expression" by La Purisima, a twist on the GSM style with Mourvedre, locally known as Monastrell, comprising 85% of the blend. Flavors of baked berry, savory spice, smoke, and dark chocolate unfurl in this succulent red wine - an excellent complement to Moroccan lamb meatballs or a hearty lentil stew.

Saturated ruby. Spice-tinged dark fruit preserves, licorice and a subtle floral quality on the nose. Gently chewy bitter cherry, blackberry and dark chocolate flavors show good depth and spicy cut. Sneaky tannins frame a nicely persistent finish that echoes the licorice note.
