Soil
The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 350-400 m. a.s.l. with a south/southeast exposure and planted on Cretan and clay soils where yield per hectare is particularly low.

Harvest
The Sangiovese grapes named Montepulciano Prugnolo carefully arrive in the cellar after a rigorous hand selection. They are collected during the second half of September.

Fermentation
Fermentation and maceration, which occur at a controlled temperature of 28-30 degrees C, is done in steel tanks for 15-25 days. Intense pumpover and delestage in the first days then become shorter and lighter towards the end. Continuous tastings determine the time of racking. After scheduled decanting, the wine performs malolactic fermentation in steel tanks.

Refinement
Eight to ten months in Slavonian oak barrels with a small 30hl capacity (around 15% of the wine spends 8-10 months in French oak barrels). The wine is then aged in bottle for four months before being sold.

Tasting Notes
Vibrant ruby red color with violet hues. This is an easy-drinking wine with fragrant cherry notes and well-defined fruit, supported by a sweet - and at the same time dynamic - tannic structure.

Service Temperature
Serve at a temperature between 16 and 18 degrees C. Open the bottle two hours before to let the wine breathe. Take care while decanting.

The 2019 Rosso di Montepulciano delivers aromas and flavors of cherry, dark plums, damp earth, licorice and fresh herbs that all take shape. On the palate this medium-bodied wine is nicely balanced, backed by fine-grained tannins that make a seamless transition into the finish which leaves behind a touch of leather and spices. This Rosso already has much to offer.
