Clarendon Hills is a small family-run winery based in Clarendon, South Australia. Founded by biochemist Roman Bratasiuk in 1990, the story of Clarendon Hills is one of passion, dedication, and commitment to exceptional wine. Though never trained as a winemaker, Roman combined his scientific knowledge and artistic expression in the winery to create the single-varietal wine portfolio of Clarendon Hills. Clarendon Hills is dedicated to complex wines that rival the best, striving for pure vineyard and varietal expression.

Wine Notes
McLaren Vale has some of the world's oldest vines planted in some of the world's oldest geology. Taste the rocks, listen to their unique and ancient stories, and celebrate some of the best terroirs in Australia. The Clarendon Grenache has bright natural acidity that creates a kaleidoscopic effect on the palate, highlighting the purity of red fruit and the elegance of perfectly balanced acid, fruit, and lightly chalky textures. It is amazingly focused, clean, and charismatic yet extremely generous in its composition and is capable of significant dividends in the years to come. A floral perfume of lavender, rose petals, and violets plays with strawberry fruit. Undercurrents of Turkish delight and maraschino cherry contrast with star anise, and Chinese five-spice lightly peppers the edges.

Good color; a pure wine, red fruit and plum to the fore prior to tannins clicking in on the back-palate and finish.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2011 Clarendon Grenache gives notes of red currants, mulberries and black pepper with a dried herb suggestion and a whiff of loam. Full-bodied, it has a good concentration of earth- and pepper-laced red fruit flavors, a medium level of chewy tannins, crisp acid and a long finish. Drink it now to 2024.
