2021 'Family Reserve' Unoaked Chardonnay

Vineyard Sources
The Chardonnay fruit is sourced from vineyards where two valleys meet - Dry Creek and Russian River. The cool microclimate near the Russian River Valley appellation produces fruit with higher acidity and minerality. A more balanced fruit profile comes from the vineyards on the Dry Creek Valley side.

Growing Season
The even-paced growing season was followed by a mild summer, providing great vineyard development. It was a very good season leading up to harvest, which was also even-handed. The fruit was picked between the 6th and 16th of September. The resulting quality was excellent, with great intensity of aromas and bright acidity.

Production
For this Chardonnay, the focus is on the fruit. This intentional style is particularly important in creating a wine reflecting the characteristic fruit profile of the grape. Once harvested, the free-run juice is fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. A slow fermentation of ten days allows full flavor development where the freshness and fruit are captured. It is bottled shortly after harvest.

Tasting Notes
A light and crisp Chardonnay with aromas and flavors of bright citrus, green apple, and honey. Notes of tropical fruit are intermingled, and the refreshing taste and smooth texture are quite appealing.
