Vintage
2018's Saint-Emilion was a very successful vintage. The growing season began benignly with a mild winter. Spring brought tumultuous rains followed by a hot summer. The heat helped push the grapes to phenolic ripeness. The 2018's harvest was carried out in stunning weather giving producers control of picking times to suit the varying needs.

Vineyard
Grand Chemin is a 5-acre parcel of ancient vines over 40 years old within the Haut-Gravet vineyard. It is located at the foot of the Saint-Emilion hill on mainly ancient gravel clay-limestone soils, allowing for mineral richness and deep rooting for a full expression of the terroir and an incredibly developed aromatic profile.

Estate
Chateau Haut Gravet is the jewel of the Aubert family vineyards. For over 20 years, Alain and his wife Bernadette have selected from the best vines and applied traditional and more modern methods, resulting in a wine that has evolved with time and is always progressing.

Dark dusty ruby color. Attractive aromas of mocha, bay, dried raspberry, sandalwood, and black tea with a lightly tannic, vibrant, dryish medium body and a smooth, complex, medium-long dried figs, caramel-drizzled cherries, and pencil shavings finish with moderate oak flavor. A tasty Saint Emilion with a generous flavor profile; a joy to drink now and may continue to develop with time.

A balanced Merlot-dominated wine, this is ripe, juicy and full of structured blackberry fruit. A firm core of tannins pushes the wine towards aging. Drink from 2023.
