Pouilly-Fuisse 1er Cru Le Clos Reyssier 2021

2021 Climate
After a contrasting winter, the budburst took place through the rain. At the beginning of April, a polar mass came from the north quite early, and the frost damaged the plots. Fresh weather set in. The sunlight was low in April, and it was rainy in May. At the beginning of June, the vines blossomed thanks to the sunshine. Blossom began around June 10th in ideal conditions. Storms come across, and on June 21st, hail strikes. Until July, there were alternate rains and lulls. More than ever, we provided personalized care to each plot based on a prevention approach. Over the second fortnight of August, a north wind dried up the vineyard and allowed a normal veraison. The spared grapes matured and grew thanks to the next rains. At the beginning of September, the harvest was in. Without surprise, the volumes are weak. We had to monitor the ripeness of the vineyard precisely and overcome the weather setbacks until we could obtain optimal quality in each plot while vinifying. Its freshness and balance lead to a classic and elegant vintage.

Winemaking and Aging
Harvest at optimal maturity. Selective gentle pneumatic pressing adapted to the maturity of the grapes to enhance the purity and aromatics of the juice. Slow temperature-controlled alcoholic fermentation in high-quality demi-muids barrels. Malolactic fermentation follows. Aged on fine lees for 10 to 11 months in oak barrels. Estate-bottled.

Tasting
With its intense golden color, this Pouilly-Fuisse is distinguished by its highly aromatic nose. The wine's floral bouquet blends perfectly with its mineral notes. The palate is powerful and full-bodied, with the woodiness adding richness and harmony. On the palate, it has a very pleasant length.
