History
In the 1870s, the Brandlin family settled on the steep, rocky slopes of Mount Veeder. Where others saw challenges, they saw the untapped promise of this majestic mountain terroir. Five decades later, Henry Brandlin staked his claim as a Napa Valley winegrowing pioneer when he planted his family's Brandlin Estate in 1926.
Vineyard
Planted as a mosaic of small vineyard blocks to accentuate the site's diversity, Brandlin Estate includes 12 blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, featuring five different clones, small blocks of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the coveted old-vine Zinfandel planted by the Brandlin family in 1926. In keeping with our commitment to the environment and our belief in preserving the beauty and vitality of our historic vineyard for generations to come, Brandlin Estate is certified sustainable, and the 120 acres of pristine native woodland that surround our vineyard have been preserved in their natural state.

Tasting Notes
Nestled high on the ridgeline of the Mayacamas mountain range, our Mount Veeder estate is known for wines of rich texture and mouth-filling flavor. Upon first sip, the 2019 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is fruit-forward with blackberry and boysenberry notes intertwined with a bouquet of allspice, cardamom, and black tea. On the finish, savory hints of cassis, tobacco, and olive surf gracefully on the palate and are rounded out by an inviting bed of rich but supple tannins.

Tasting Notes: Terrific fruit - respectfully grown and vinified - then aged and finished with impressive skill. That’s what you get for your money in this wine, and it is a thing of beauty. [...] Winemaker Steve Rogstad has managed to turn out a very serious and age-worthy Cabernet that places the pure core of fruit at center-stage, with all the winemaking accents right where they belong - as accents in the wings. As this opens with aeration, you can find the cooperage expressing itself with subtle spiciness and toastiness, but there is no icky vanilla or distracting charred notes in this wine - and I checked it again and again to assure that you won’t find them, either. The tannin management is as skillful as the wood influence, making this already wonderful with decanting and a pairing with fairly serious food - or just a nice piece of cheese.

Tasting Notes: Very expressive, with zesty anise and apple wood mixed with sassafras and sweet bay leaf flavors, all backed by a dense, polished core of blackberry and acai berry fruit. Features a hint of tar that adds spine and textural contrast to the finish. Big all around, but everything is well-proportioned. Best from 2023 through 2038.

Tasting Notes: A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec makes up the 2019 Estate Cabernet from Brandlin. Resting for 22 months in 50% new French oak barrels, it delivers a shimmering dark purple core with a bright neon purple rim in the glass. Rich and decadent notes of black plum, cassis, sandalwood, tobacco leaf, crushed blackberries, baking chocolate, grated cloves, and shades of wet earth are all present on the nose and on the palate. Structured tannins play well with the elevated acidity, which leads to an earthy yet black fruit-forward finish. [...]

Tasting Notes: Very ripe, lush, jammy fruit flavors give a lot of pleasure to this full-bodied wine as moderate tannins add good structure to the palate, firming up black cherries, cranberries and blueberries that show excellent depth. Best from 2025-2035.

Tasting Notes: Hints of sage and bay accent cherry and cassis notes on the nose of Brandlin's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium to full-bodied, firm and layered with dusty tannins, it's a classically built mountain Cab that could use a few years in the cellar - or a massive hunk of rare beef.
