2020 Castello di Fonterutoli 'Concerto di Fonterutoli' Toscana IGT

'Concerto' was born in 1981 as a result of viticulture with unexpressed potential, experimenting with new training systems and blends, including non-autochthonous varietals. It was one of the forerunners and top ten players of the "Super Tuscan" phenomenon.

Tasting Notes: An extremely aromatic red with currants, flowers and spices, following through to a full-bodied yet so crunchy and juicy palate with crushed blackberries and raspberries. Citrusy acidity. Bright and agile. Drink or hold.

Tasting Notes: The nose balances the peppery, sanguine smokiness of grilled meat with a succulent swirl of black cherries and chocolate. On the palate, that balance continues, and is spotlighted by a strong undertow of spice and salt, while polished tannins and integrated acid create cohesion.

Tasting Notes: The 2020 Concerto shows even more finesse and harmony than in previous vintages. Since 2019, the time in oak has been reduced by three months, and the last few months maturation takes place in concrete. The Sangiovese is aged in tonneaux, further reducing the oak impact. Attractive blue fruits, black cherry, a touch of new leather and perfumed floral notes combine. On the palate the dark fruits and tannins feel a little heavier in respect to the 2021, with a slightly crunchier green herb flavour, but this wine has a beautiful texture and weight; a vibrant style which is beguiling.

Tasting Notes: The 2020 Concerto di Fonterutoli is bright and punchy, with terrific freshness and tons of nuance. Plum, pomegranate, spice, new leather and blood orange are front and center. The 2020 is a gorgeous wine that captures the essence of the house style beautifully. Today, the purity of the fruit really jumps out of the glass. Superb.

Tasting Notes: The Mazzei 2020 Concerto di Fonterutoli comes from a vintage that saw good rainfall and a long hot summer that ensured easy fruit ripening thanks to ample water reserves. Additional rainfall occurred in June and September to help reduce water stress and resulted in grapes with thick skins and well-ripened phenols. You taste that here, and there is some grittiness to the tannins with very soft fruit flavors and bold extraction. This wine appears ripe and rich overall with good balance in terms of its acidity.

Tasting Notes: This rich yet taut red is marked by a beam of black cherry and black currant fruit, with oak spice, earth and wild Mediterranean herb accents. Compact, dusty finish. Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2025 through 2038.
