Viticulture and Vinification
The property is located in Galgon, close to Fronsac, on a sandy, clayey plateau facing the southeast. This wine is made on 2 hectares. The vineyard is managed with organic farming, bearing the certification 'ECOCERT FR BIO 01' since 2010. The harvest takes place mechanically. Each grape variety is vinified separately in thermoregulated cement tanks. Alcoholic fermentation occurs, followed by two weeks of maceration. To be served between 12 and 14 degrees C. Drink now.

The nice balance of ripe fruit and toasty oak marks this wine out. There’s just a hint of sweetness on the palate, but that fits in well with the gentle tannins, which give this an immediately appealing personality.

Distinctly aromatic and pungent, the 2014 possesses striking floral nuance to match its lifted, mid-weight personality. There is no shortage of intrigue and personality in this super-expressive wine. The Chateau Vieux Poirier 2014, which comes from organically farmed vines, is a little rustic on the nose with its bold blackberry, chalk dust and granite aromas. It’s simple, but there is satisfactory fruit intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannin, foursquare in the mouth and it dips toward the finish that feels linear, and, to be honest, a little dour. I would have liked more flesh here.
