Tasting Notes
Bright crimson color. The bouquet exhibits vibrant floral notes followed by strawberry, thyme, and mint. Rich strawberry conserves, morello cherry, and spice follows the palate held by powdery tannins and refreshing acidity. Bright, delicate, and delicious!
Winemaker Notes
The growing season for vintage 2019 was consistently dry across autumn, winter, spring, and summer. This ultimately kept crop levels below average. Veraison was late to commence but came on quickly once the warm weather arrived. Despite the warm start to summer in February, we experienced mild temperatures and cold nights, which allowed the vines to come back into balance after the previous months of water and wind stress. The first week of March was warm, but after this, the weather pattern returned to dry, mild days and cold nights perfect for flavor development and natural acid retention in the grape berries.
Terroir
The Grenache vineyard has a north-eastern exposure. Soils are shallow, red sandy loam over complex geology comprising quartz and ironstone gravels, weathered and calcareous sandstone, siltstone, and limestone.

14 days on skins in open fermenters and 8 months in used French wood. The delicious results suggest it an apposite approach. Hard to think of a better estate grenache than this! Raspberry bon-bon, morello cherry and a lick of briar- and white pepper-doused tannins, sandy textured and thirst-slaking, confer a welcome savouriness. Delicious.
