Climate
The Coombsville AVA is cooler than the rest of Napa Valley due to its exposure to wind and fog from the San Pablo Bay. This allows the grapes to ripen to full maturation without increasing the average brix at harvest.

Terroir
Bale clay, forward gravelly, and Sobrante loam

Vinification
All Sodaro Estate wines are crafted by Leo Tellez from our estate-grown fruit. Aged in 100% French oak for 21 months. This wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage
The near-perfect 2016 growing season began early, experienced ideal weather conditions throughout, and the harvest occurred just before the valley's first significant fall rainstorm arrived. A relatively steady and mild July and August, followed by a series of warm days at the end of the growing season, allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly.

Tasting Notes
This wine presents black fruits, damp earth, chocolate, and a whiff of espresso, along with full-bodied richness.

Tasting Notes: Moving to the 2016s, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (100% Cabernet) offers a rocking nose of black fruits, damp earth, chocolate, and a whiff of espresso as well as full-bodied richness, a more backward, pure style than the 2015, no hard edges, and brilliant purity of fruit. It's going to develop additional complexity and nuance with 3-4 years of bottle age and keep for 20 years or more.

Tasting Notes: The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is deep garnet-purple in color and delivers intense scents of blackcurrant cordial, blackberry compote, and black raspberries with hints of pencil lead, aged beef, cedar chest, tobacco, and tilled soil. Full and firm, with exquisitely ripe tannins, it has beautiful harmony and great depth, finishing on a lingering mineral note.

Tasting Notes: The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate balances power and elegance with dark fruit, dried herbs, and mint. A good bit of savory intensity is there to play off the dark fruit. Blackberry, grilled herbs, menthol, and licorice come together on the finish in this medium-bodied wine with good tannic grip and persistence.
