While Rocca di Castagnoli specializes in traditional Italian varieties, you wouldn't know it when tasting their impressive 2013 Buriano. Composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this delightful wine has a foot in old and new world styles. The winery itself operates inside a medieval hilltop fortress, yet the cellar is equipped with stainless steel fermenters and compact barriques for aging, casting a sleek and modern taste profile. Perfectly aged for release and now generously discounted, it's your moment to order a Tuscan red you can genuinely call 'super.'

Rocca di Castagnoli 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Buriano
Gaiole in Chianti (Chianti Classico, Siena), Tuscany
Red wine from Italy
Drinking window: 2020 - 2034
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Buriano is powerful and unctuous in the glass. Inky and super-concentrated, the Buriano nevertheless retains tons of structure. Blueberry, vanillin, smoke, new leather and espresso infuse this deep, plush Tuscan Cabernet. Even with all of its intensity, the 2013 remains nuanced and full of class. What a gorgeous wine it is.

ROCCA DI CASTAGNOLI CABERNET SAUVIGNON TOSCANA BURIANO 2013
Monday, August 28, 2017
A fresh and clean red with basil and berry character. Some sweet tobacco. Medium body, soft tannins and a fruity finish. Harmonious. Drink now or hold.
Rocca di Castagnoli 2013 Toscana Buriano Cabernet Sauvignon
An interesting expression of cabernet sauvignon from the Chianti Classico zone, this has flavors of mixed berries, roasted fennel and green peppercorns woven together by firm, ferrous tannins. The finish shows hints of sun-ripened tomato that give it a Tuscan feel. (04/19)
