The Union de Producteurs de Saint-Emilion, a Right Bank grower alliance, strictly selects Merlot and Cabernet Franc from old-vine parcels throughout Saint-Emilion Grand Cru to produce Les Hauts de Granget.
Their fresh and velvety 2018 vintage features red cherry, plum, and strawberry flavors, which become more intense with aeration, while nuances of cedar, wet soil, and leather speak to the wine's barrel aging and sense of place.
This approachable, medium-bodied Bordeaux red wine pairs wonderfully with roasted meats, mushroom stroganoff, or mature cheeses.

Tasting Notes
Les Hauts de Granget is an alliance of winegrowers producing quality wines while respecting the terroir and vines. This exquisite full-bodied Saint-Emilion Grand Cru has a complex nose of cinnamon and ripe red fruit such as black cherry and blueberry. The silky roundness of the delicate oak flavors is followed by its fine tannic structure. The lengthy, luscious finish leaves your mouth wanting more. Enjoy with roasted or braised meats and strong, semi-mature cheeses.
Vintage
The 2018 growing season had a challenging start. In the first half, the region was met with incredibly wet conditions. However, the vineyards bathed in hot, sunny weather from mid-July through harvest. Later-picked fruit created more tannic, richer wines, while the earlier fruit created fresher and slightly lighter cuvees. This vintage is full of diverse character and style yet doesn't stray from quality.
Winemaking
Les Hauts de Granget is an elegant blend of grapes from old sand and clay-limestone soils. After the grapes are harvested and separated by variety, they enter a gravity-flow, temperature-controlled winemaking process. Maceration lasts 25-30 days, after which the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

The 2018 Les Hauts de Granget is a lovely showing in this vintage. It beings [sic] with inviting aromas of dark berries and dark plums, which are laced with spices, tobacco and wet gravel nuances. On the palate this offers a medium body with a soft, round mouthfeel with a lovely mineral streak that frames the long finish. This is accessible and drinking well now, but should also develop very nicely over the next few years.
