2021 Sonoma Coast Rose
Vineyards
The Stemmler rose is sourced from two vineyards in the Sonoma Coast AVA, each in a uniquely cool microclimate perfect for growing Pinot Noir. The vines range from 7 to 30+ years old, providing a broad palate to make the final blend.
Production Notes
The juice comes from a combination of Pinot Noir picked and gently pressed, which provides depth and structure, and saignee juice which offers fresh fruit and intensity. A portion of the juice is fermented in used oak barrels to provide palate richness and complexity. However, most of the blend is fermented in stainless steel to maintain aromatic freshness and keep the wine lean and focused on the palate. Both fermentations are kept cold to preserve delicate aromas. The wine is aged for about three months on the lees with no stirring.
Tasting Notes
Pink in color, the 2021 Stemmler Rose boasts an exotic nose of papaya, guava, Key lime, and fresh-cut flowers. The palate is bright and focused, with delicate red berries and white peach, leaving a lingering minerality on the finish.
Service
Perfect for delicate fish dishes, including raw preparations, the Stemmler rose offers a wealth of pairing options thanks to its balanced acidity and structured palate. It is best enjoyed in the first two years after the vintage.
