Tasting Notes
Feu Follet 2021 is the expression of creative madness in that it both bewitches and fascinates. It evokes the culture and mysterious art that is winemaking. Feu Follet radiates its greediness through the aromatic power of orange zest, citrus, white peaches, and strawberries. The palate enjoys a mouthwatering minerality that comes together in a wonderful balance of bright acidity and fruit expression. Feu Follet, 'the will-o'-the-wisp,' is the manifestation of the spirit and soul of Provence within your glass. With each swirl, watch as the hints of the small flame dance.
Vintage Details
Provence's 2021 vintage has been ordained a 'winegrower's vintage.' It was challenging, unforgiving, and humbling. Between the combinations of wildfires, labor concerns, and pandemic restrictions, this year was not for the shy of heart. But in the end, it was a time of celebration, of a battle well won.
Vineyard Details
Nestled in the heart of Provence, Chateau Paradis lives up to its
name as a hidden paradise of lyrical landscapes and seductive wines. The estate of Chateau Paradis totals 160 hectares, of which 80 hectares are dedicated to vineyards. Within this 80- hectares is an exceptional parcel of approximately 30-year-old vines. Because of their age, these vines are able to reach down deep into a rich clay-limestone terroir some 650 feet above sea level.
Terroir
Located on the north face of the Trevaresse Mountain in front of the Durance River, the vines benefit from the Mistral winds coming from the Rhone Valley and a cool climate that follows the river. Vines thrive in the warm Mediterranean climate and produce a perfectly crafted rose wine. Clay imparts power and aromatics to the wine, while the chalky limestone rounds it out, bringing fruit notes and a nice minerality.
