Lot No. 1 is Cabernet Sauvignon at its peak form of expression. Its history dates back over 70 years when Louis M. Martini began a practice that would become a hallmark of his winery. While tasting through Cabernet aging in the cellar, he began selecting exceptional lots that showcased the essence of Cabernet Sauvignon's character and designating them to craft his finest wine.

Tasting Notes
Our 2014 Lot 1 Cabernet Sauvignon has impressive depth, power, and complexity - perennial hallmarks of Lot 1 - starting with the intense aromas of blackberry jam, boysenberry, and creme brulee. The palate has striking power and breadth, filled with flavors of blackberry, cherry, blackcurrant, and caramel in a plush mouthfeel. The exceptionally long, polished finish evolves with fruit and toasted oak layers. The fine tannins and outstanding balance of power and elegance will allow this wine to age for decades.

This is expressive, with enticing black currant and blackberry reduction notes woven with hints of Christmas pudding, bittersweet cocoa and alder. Polished in feel, making this accessible now, while underlying energy in the form of a subtle iron note extends the rich finish. Succulent in fleshy black fruit and lifted acidity, this is a smooth, plush and robust wine. It's a hugely concentrated expression of the grape that's impressive in its power. Black pepper, cigar and dark chocolate linger on the finish.

Opaque purple-black in color, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 1 has a baked blackberries, creme de cassis, raisin cake and mocha-scented nose with touches of bay leaves, earth and Marmite toast. The big, behemoth, full-bodied palate is packed with raisin/baked berries, with plush tannins and plenty of freshness.
