Announcing the second release of our new La Sirena label - Studio Series. In addition to being a winemaker, I have been a painter and visual artist for many years. My mother, Diane Brisbois Peterson, was a professional artist, so I grew up immersed in artistic creativity and wine. Throughout my winemaking career, I have sought to explore creative avenues within the scientific discipline of wine, and blending has been one of the most fulfilling ways to do that. Studio Series is a Cab-forward winemaker blend that will feature a different painting of mine on each vintage's label. I'm proud to offer this new wine, which shows off my creative work inside and outside the bottle. Welcome to my studio!

Producer Notes
Why 'La Sirena'? The name means 'the Mermaid' in Spanish and Italian. I chose it because I'm a lifelong ocean lover and longtime scuba diver, and I wanted a winery name that was fun, magical (like the wine itself), and personal to me. The first vintage of La Sirena was in 1994, and the first Cabernet Sauvignon in 1996. Our current wine lineup consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Moscato Azul (dry Muscat Canelli), Rosato (rose of Primitivo), Chardonnay, Malbec, and our red blends - Studio Series and Pirate TreasuRed. Production is always small, focusing on fine wines of purity and excellence. Wishing you all the best!

Tasting Notes
Deep garnet in color from the ripe 2018 vintage, with open aromas of lush fruit - plum, blackberry, and cherry, and notes of cedar, vanilla, and white pepper. Across the palate, it's seamless, silky, rich, and concentrated. The fruit flavors are bold and vibrant. Mouth-filling with smooth tannins, great texture, and a long, delicious finish. A beautiful wine from an excellent vintage - complexity and elegance abound in this work of winemaking art. Delicious and approachable upon release, expect it to be an age-worthy addition to your cellar, as well.

Tasting Notes: The 2018 Studio Series Red Blend is composed of 48% Syrah, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petite Sirah, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps with bold notions of juicy plums, boysenberries, and chocolate-covered cherries, backed up by suggestions of aniseed and tree bark. The rich, full-bodied palate packs a punch of black fruit and exotic spices layers, supported by ripe, rounded tannins, finishing with amazing length.

A blend of 48% Syrah, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petite Sirah and 2% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Studio Series Red Wine boasts bold aromas of black cherries, blackberries, blueberries and licorice. It's full-bodied, ripe and rich yet harmonious, balanced and appealing from front to back, lingering in silky waves on the finish.

Black fruits, tobacco, leafy herbs, and chocolate all emerge from the 2018 Red Blend Studio Series, a nicely balanced, medium to full-bodied blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Syrah, and tiny proportions of Petite Sirah and Cabernet Franc. Opening up nicely with time in the glass, I love its tannins, it has plenty of mid-palate depth, and outstanding length.

A mixture of blackberries and blue fruit here, together with asphalt, cocoa powder and some roasted olives and spices. Juicy and flavorful palate, with a slightly saline core of fruit, wrapped by fine, silky tannin. Savory and lengthy finish. Nicely dry. 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Syrah, 3% Petite Sirah and 2% Cabernet Franc. Drink or hold.
