Before Malbec became a global star in Argentina, it was the hometown hero of Cahors, favored by European royalty. Vignerons Herve and Diane Fabre, who work in both Mendoza and Cahors, bring a global perspective to their 2022 Chateau du Perry. Fermented in French oak and aged in cement, this 93-point bottling balances a rich core with a fresh, soft texture, making it wonderfully versatile.
Producer Notes
Herve Fabre is a fourth-generation winemaker. Originally from Bordeaux, Herve and his wife Diane acquired Chateau du Perry (38 hectares) in 2017 from the Rigal family. They are also the driving force behind Argentina bodega 'Fabre' in the Mendoza wine region.
Vineyard Notes
This wine perfectly illustrates the variety of terroirs within the appellation and is made from grapes from the alluvial terraces and the clay-limestone causse. The region's specific climate offers a long, dry summer and a warm autumn with moderate rain, ideal conditions for perfect maturity. The natural undulation of the terraces protects the terroir from cold air masses coming from the north.
Winemaking Notes
The grapes are carefully selected and treated with the utmost respect to preserve the harvest's potential. Fermentation is carried out at controlled temperatures between 20 and 28 degrees C, and extraction takes place by punching down. Maceration takes place between 25 to 30 days. The wine is aged in 400-liter French oak barrels for 12 months, then transferred to cement vats for further aging before being bottled.
Tasting Notes
This wine is rich and concentrated, marked by woody and spicy notes and supported by flavors of prunes and red fruits. Lively and balanced, helped by fine tannins, Chateau du Perry will be enjoyed with equal pleasure after a few years of aging.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Chateau du Perry Cahors Malbec [...] begins with seductive aromas of black raspberries, blueberries and roasted plums, woven together with hay, spices and dried herbs, which all come together and soar from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied with remarkable depth and concentration. It continues to impress with juicy dark fruits and a touch of sour cherry nuances, which combine with exotic spices that persist through the very long finish.
