When they found the sites that would serve as the foundation for their enterprise in 1999, Shirley and Charles Roy had much more flexibility to work with the growers, fruit, and winemakers of their choice. After six years, they brought on rising star consultant Philippe Melka, whose cellar techniques allowed for earlier enjoyment of their long-lived wines. The 2009 Proprietary Blend brought together estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, macerated in concrete vessels to tighten the ripe berry flavors. Aging for seventeen months in French oak allowed the maturing wine to breathe and absorb those precious flavors specific to the artisanal Taransaud cooperage. Don't miss the opportunity to experience a mature Napa Valley red at such a steep discount!

Tasting Notes
The extremely low yields in 2009 provided ripe grapes with a huge concentration of flavor and structure. This Proprietary Red reveals a deep red color, and the intense aromatics are terrific with a perfume of fresh cassis, cherry, blueberries, and a hint of pepper. It delivers purity of flavor, richness, and depth with finesse. Well-rounded in the mouth, it exhibits plenty of vibrancy and charms with a wonderful bouquet of violet, freshly crushed rocks, blue and black fruits, and exotic spices. Lingering on your palate with a very long, beautiful finish of fruits, it shows great promises for long aging ability.

Tasting Notes: The dusty, chalky tannins are slightly obtrusive in this otherwise excellent wine packed with ripe, fresh blackberry, chocolate, licorice, plush textures and a long, fresh finish.
