Winemaker's Tasting Notes
Opening with complex aromas of blackberry, blue plum, violet, and a hint of fresh herbs, this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is vibrant and expressive. On the palate, notes of cherry, dark chocolate, cassis, and toasted almonds intertwine with fresh acidity, supple tannins, and a long, smooth finish.
Harvest
The 2022 growing season began with below-average rainfall and mild temperatures throughout spring and summer. A significant heat wave hit Napa Valley in early September, followed by a few days of refreshing rain that quickly replenished our vines. The fruit matured slowly into late October, producing elegant wines with soft tannins and rich, concentrated flavors.

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon from Clos Du Val blends 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Malbec, and a touch of both Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Aged for 12 months in 30% new French oak. Boasting a glimmering dark ruby-blue core with a neon purple rim, it commences with notes of sweet black plums, cassis, roasted herbs, tobacco leaves, green peppercorn, and shades of wet earth. Grippy tannins, a medium body, and a black-fruit-dominated finish complete the wine. It's still a baby, so give this 2 years in the bottle before enjoying.

Tasting Notes: One of the more realistically priced Napa Cabs out there, Clos du Val's 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 5% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Scents of black and red cherries, hints of violets and vanilla mark the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky and fresh, streamlined and classic in style. It's ready to drink now and should continue to drink well for the next decade.
