The Cielo family, who have been making wine for over a century in Veneto and Puglia, collaborated with the winemaking expertise of Cantina Sociale Colli Berici to form Famiglia Cielo dal 1908. Together, the knowledge of diverse terroir and cellar techniques dovetailed into producing consistently impressive and complex bottlings. Their 2019 "Amaregi" Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva uses grapes harvested and dehydrated via the ancient "appassimento" method, resulting in a flavorsome, velvety red that pairs well with bold dishes and stands out on its own.

What a genius of pleasantness! The bottle seems almost too small to enclose the exuberant richness of the Amarone Riserva Amaregi. A unique nectar from Valpolicella, not surprisingly defined as a Super Venetian. A Riserva designed to celebrate over one hundred years of our family's winemaking activity. Each sip is a hymn to delightfulness.

Winemaking Notes
Amarone Riserva Amaregi comes from a careful selection of grapes harvested from highly suitable soils, with the best qualities for enhancing the natural authenticity of the grapevines. Bunches that, according to the ancient local technique of "appassimento," are left to dry in special fruit cellars. Dehydration welcomes flavor. Our lifelong winemaking mastery transforms rich grapes into a wine with an irrepressible taste, aged in large oak barrels for at least 4 years.

Tasting Notes
Ruby red color. Overflowing from the glass, with notes of blueberries, figs, aromatic herbs, and sweet spices, like licorice, with just a touch of roasted coffee beans. Enticing and savory scents. A fleshy taste in line with the nose, full and enveloping, like an ermine cloak. A regal flavor, like its name, with earthy nuances, silky tannins, and a velvety persistence, with a balsamic, juicy, and mocha lingering aftertaste.

That is why it is delicious with all the following specialties - BBQ hamburger with cheddar and caramelized onions, liver sausages with lentils, Taleggio cheese fondue with mushrooms, steak with black truffle and rosemary, raclette with herbed croutons, peppers stuffed with smoked lamb, pine nuts, and raisins, Milanese osso buco with remoulade, pork with sweet and sour vegetables, venison stew with blueberries. Tasting Notes: An overt and overripe style, resulting in plum- and cherry-jam aromas with peppery depth. Full-bodied, it shows velvety tannins with racy acidity and chalkier texture in the finish. Drinkable now but best from 2026.
