Wine Description
The Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon is the pinnacle of our blending efforts each year. Our Sacrashe Vineyard takes center stage and serves as the foundation of this blend. This high-elevation vineyard brings mouth-coating richness and complexity, offering deep, dark, earthy cassis flavors and powerfully dense tannins. From there, we seek out complementary vineyards, usually from the most regarded mountain appellations, to create balance, symmetry, and finesse in the wine. Lastly, we introduce vineyard sites with profound depth and decadence to heighten the voluptuousness and opulence that have become the hallmark character of our flagship wine.

Vintage Details
The winter of 2020 was warm and dry, setting off budbreak and the growing season slightly earlier than usual throughout Napa Valley. It wasn't until the end of March that cold, rainy weather arrived, and the mild spring gave the vines a strong, early start. Moderately warm days held throughout summer and early fall, allowing the fruit to ripen slowly and develop a complex flavor and tannin balance, while maintaining fresh acidity. This vintage produced great wines that are concentrated, focused, and beautifully balanced.

Tasting Notes
The 2020 vintage opens with enticing aromas of dark plum, cocoa nib, and fresh earth, laced with a subtle note of dried herbs. The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall isn't as dark and super ripe as the 2021 or 2019. Cassis and cherry notes are nicely framed by mocha and toast on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is slightly coarse and open-knit, marked by hints of alcoholic warmth on the finish.
