Winemaker's Note
Vanvitelli used onyx extracted from the Gesualdo quarry for the alabasters of the Royal Palace of Caserta. This stone, with its yellow-gold color, has distinctive veins that range into blue tones. The vineyard, located near the quarry, gave its name to this product.

Vinification
The hand-harvested grapes, transported in crates, undergo crushing and maceration for about 3 weeks in steel silos. After fermentation, the wine, separated from the skins, is aged in new French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes
Ruby, intense red. Aromas of cherry jam, sour cherry, and blackcurrant. On the palate, intense spices, dark chocolate, and wild blackberry, with a finish of Marasca cherry.

Pairings
Pairs well with dishes from the Mediterranean tradition, meat sauces, roasts including game, and well-aged, spicy, and flavored cheeses.

Tasting Notes: An array of ripe black and blue fruit with sweet spices, dark chocolate, cloves and cedar. Full-bodied with glossy tannins and an intense, waxy dark fruit character. Rich and bold with a toasty and nutty finish. Drink now.
