  • The Trestle Glen Vineyard gets its name from the remains of the narrow-gauge track that cut through the property, which shuttled passengers and goods from the towns of Sonoma and Glen Ellen in the last two decades of the nineteenth century. The vines also served as a key source of Sonoma Valley fruit for B.R. Cohn for nearly twenty years.
  • Someone very familiar with the terroir is head winemaker at Trestle Glen, Tom Montgomery, a veteran of the California wine scene, including decades crafting a variety of European-inspired bottlings in B.R. Cohn's cellars. His experience also includes winemaking and teaching positions at his alma mater, Fresno State, the first university in the nation to have a commercial winery on campus.
  • The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon leads with cherry, redcurrant, soil, violet, sage, and cedar aromas. On the palate, its refreshing acidity and finely grained tannins bring together the raspberry, cassis, and cedar notes, culminating in a beautifully lifted finish.

Vineyard
The Trestle Glen Vineyard is grown using sustainable farming practices. The vineyard is located near Glen Ellen in Sonoma Valley between the Mayacamas Mountains and Sonoma Mountain. The unique microclimate, featuring underground natural hot springs and a gentle ocean breeze, helps prevent frost in late winter and early spring. In summer and fall, warm days tempered by gentle afternoon winds off Sonoma Mountain and cool nights provide slow, even ripening. Our vineyard has sparse, gravelly volcanic soil that ensures low vigor, low yield, and small, concentrated berries, and is often draped in morning dew and home to foxes, herons, and Bernie the cat.

Winemaking
Grapes are harvested ripe at full maturation of flavor and color. The destemmed, hand-sorted fruit is then cold-soaked for 3 to 4 days. Fermented in small lots and punched down for gentle extraction. After fermenting, each tank receives extended maceration and is gently pressed to avoid harsh tannins. Our Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in only the finest tight-grain French oak barrels.

Tasting Notes
Dark ruby red, our classic Cabernet Sauvignon has fruit-forward aromas of berry jam, black currant, violet, and plum, with a bouquet of vanilla, caramel, nutmeg, cola, cedar, and touches of pine and mint. Rich flavors of cherry, berry, and plum combine with soft tannin and toasty oak on a lasting finish. A full-bodied Cabernet from another ripe vintage at the Trestle Glen Vineyard.
