Vineyard
We selected three vineyards from our best winegrowers, aiming to achieve the maximum aromatic, freshness, and fruit expression of Tempranillo. "La Lobera", "La Yeca" and "Ribarrey" are the unique names of these vineyards with 20-year-old vines, located in the highest areas of Cenicero at almost 600 meters altitude, facing north and surrounded by mountains, which enhance the aromatic load of the grapes. The vineyard location is a determining factor in the freshness of Tempranillo. All of them have poor soils with a calcareous-clay composition, naturally providing low yields and an excellent fruit load.

Harvest
An exhaustive follow-up is carried out in the vineyard to achieve the ideal fruit and freshness profile we are seeking. The harvest takes place at the beginning of October to take advantage of the increasing number of days with large temperature differences between day and night. The reason is that in higher areas, the drop in temperature at the end of summer is more pronounced, allowing a slower ripening and an optimal level of acidity.

Winemaking
The grapes are destemmed as soon as they reach the cellar. The fermentation aims to promote the selection of native yeasts identified in our vineyards, which give this Puerta Vieja wine its personality. Aged for five months in new American oak barrels with a medium to long toast.

Tasting Notes
Intense cherry red color with a rim of the same deep and vivid nuance. On the nose, it projects expressive fresh aromas of the vineyards. It harmonizes the power and delicacy of red fruit aromas with balsamic notes and hints of the terroir. Its combination of red fruits, cherries, blueberries, and fresh strawberries makes it a complex wine full of fruit nuances, integrating freshness with light spice and notes of toast from its brief aging in barrels. The aftertaste is broad and persistent. The hints of oak wood are barely noticeable, and once again, the fruit flavors take center stage.
