While the Loire Valley is best known for its vibrant Sauv Blanc, the region's Pinot Noir-based roses are just as deserving of the spotlight. Best consumed in their youth, these pink wines showcase Pinot's delicate nature and are distinguished by their inherent freshness. Both elegant and aromatically intense, Jean-Paul Picard's 'Le Pre Long' features a bouquet of sweet, sun-ripened strawberry and juicy watermelon alongside hints of stony minerality and dried rose petals - delicious for sipping on its own or paired with light summer fare.

"Le Pre Long" Menetou-Salon Rose
Wine Details
Region: Central Loire Valley
Vines: 100% Pinot Noir from vines averaging 20 years
Soil: Clay and limestone from Kimmeridgian soil
Viticultural Practices
The soil is hoed, or grass is left to grow in between the rows, depending on the terroir. Debudding, suckering (dedoublage), manual leaf removal; green harvest depending on the vintages. The grapes are carefully sorted and then harvested by hand.
Vinification
The grapes are partially destemmed prior to a pre-fermentation maceration at cold temperature for up to 24 hours under inert gas. Gentle pneumatic pressing to preserve the freshness of the aromas. The juice rests in tank at a very low temperature to stabilize, then it is clarified (debourbage) before alcoholic fermentation. The young wine is left on its fine lees for 2 to 3 months, then filtered before being bottled.
Tasting Notes
Pale salmon color. Expressive nose of red cherry and pomegranate. A fresh rose perfect for aperitifs and light fare. Enjoy within 2-3 years of the vintage. Recommended serving temperature of 46 to 50 degrees F (8 to 10 degrees C).
