2019 Lamoreaux Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon
Winery History
Our present-day winery and its 24-acre estate vineyard were part of the original Rancho Caymus land grant given in 1836 to George Yount, the area's first European-American pioneer. Over the years, the property changed hands until it was purchased in 1978 by James and Barbara Allen. The following year, the duo opened a winery in a 100-year-old barn beneath a grove of Sequoia trees, and so Sequoia Grove was born.

Tasting Notes
Dark red in color, this wine bursts with aromas of wild berries, mixed berry pie, and cordial aromas, giving way to raisin cake and brown sugar syrup. The palate flows with flavors of cherry and blackberry patch, finishing with a balance of acidity and tannins. The tannins are soft, with additional flavors of fruit leather, white pepper, cedar, roasted mushroom, and truffles.

Tasting Notes: Big but well behaved, this flavorful, concentrated and well-structured wine practically explodes with black cherry, black olive and toasted-oak aromas, followed by deep flavors, nicely gripping tannins and good length on the finish. It should improve with age and tastes best from 2028-2040.

Tasting Notes: Generous in feel, with a core of warmed cassis and blackberry compote notes that quickly splay open. Keeps focus and form thanks to a frame accented with loam, savory and tobacco. Drink now through 2034.

Tasting Notes: The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamoreaux Vineyard offers pretty bright floral and savory accents to play off a core of red-toned fruit. This deep yet midweight Oak Knoll Cabernet has a lot to offer. Blood orange, mint, dried herbs, lavender and inky dark fruit open with time. The 2019 is beautifully done. It is one of the more restrained wines in this range, if that term can be used for any of these intense Cabernets.

Tasting Notes: The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Lamoreaux Vineyard, from the Oak Knoll, is solid, although not at the level of the other releases here. Herbal, almost green, medicinal notes of leafy herbs, bouquet garni, black cherries, and red plums give way to a medium-bodied, balanced 2019 with quality tannins. It should keep for a decade.
